3. Find the replacement logic board suitable for your MacBook
When you purchase a replacement logic board for your MacBook, you need to order it by “logic board part number”. The MacBook model number is not adequate to correctly identify the logic board you need. For example, Apple manufactures 13" MacBook Pro A1278 from 2008 to 2012. They upgrade the logic board nearly every year but the MacBook model number remains the same as A1278. This simple step can guarantee the board will fit in your MacBook case and connections to ALL other components such as screen, keyboard and battery are identical.
You need to remove the logic board from the case and find out the logic board part number. All logic boards we sell here will come with photo to show you where you can find the logic board number for your MacBook.
Logic board numbers all start with “820-“. For example, an A1286 15 inch 2011 MacBook Pro has a logic board number of 820-2915-A or 820-2915-B. 820-2915-A and 820-2915-B are interchangeable with only minor differences. The A1278 13 inch 2012 MacBook Pro has logic board numbers 820-3115-A or 820-3115-B. 820-3115-A and 820-3115-B are also interchangeable but 820-2915 and 820-3115 are NOT interchangeable.
